Local history collections. Highlights for the hitlist as you get set for summer.

Earlier this winter, with restrictions looming in Sydney,  my quick work trip to Wagga  was unexpectedly extended.  We planned for three days and nearly three months later we're still on the road in our have-wifi-can-work-from-anywhere world.

Daisy-the-dog and I have had fun working far from home. In fact, being based in country communities, experiencing a range of fantastic farm-stays, cute cottages and historic hotels has been a revelation.   There are so many old stories from the past that still set the scene, and so many local heritage collections, lovingly curated and linked online so curious travellers can easily log on and learn what makes each town tick.

The result of this road-trip is an evolving  list of  historic things to think  about and the local heritage  highlights that should be on your hitlist as you  get set for summer and a life that is less locked down.

Family history mysteries come in many sizes, and as you prepare to find out more about  a person, a place or a point in time that plays an important role in your family stories,  we're here to help you plan your trip.  This spring,  each week we'll focus on a different heritage collection in country Australia and add in some extra details on the destination so that when you're ready to travel you can  make the most of your  time, reuniting with loved ones, discovering local connections,  and creating new memories together.
